Yep - the rules at geocaching.com are no traveling caches - too bad... oh well, on to our next dastardly plan.

Thanks for the feedback.

About a  year ago there was a cache of this type in the London area, but it had to be archived due to the 'permanence' rule.  I think it would be a neat thing to try, even if we just did it through the NWOG website.  Unfortunately, you wouldn't be able to log it as a find on the geocaching website....... unless you worked it like a travel bug....  a la Jim's magnetic bug on his old car.  I wonder if that would work??

 8) Thanks for all the feedback on the traveling cache idea.  We'll have to discuss at the SCC dinner.

In the meantime, we forgot to state in our cache write ups that we put a FTF certificate in each of our caches so there is no squabbling about who nor need to validate logs at the points tally.  Please ensure that you take it if you are the FTF.

Thanks!

You could always hide a locked cache and have the key move to different caches  (I think ?Triffica? worked this way; but never got to try it).
Keep the new ideas coming.

Cannon Cache Category Question

So, Jenn and I hid this Cannon Cache, and without giving anything much away, it's a puzzle that you have to solve to figure out the final coordinates. So, it's a puzzle. But CacheDrone asked me to make it a multi because the puzzle requires that you visit a cannon in town to get some information to solve the puzzle first. So, it's a multi.

But really, the fun part of the cache and the design of the whole thing is solving the puzzle.

But it's listed as a multi on the gc.com site.

But it's a puzzle.

So, is it okay that it's in the puzzle category? We're not planning on hiding a multi (though that could change between now an next weekend :)) What do you guys think?

I do not see any problems with keeping it as a puzzle for the sake of the event.

???  Shroom, your explanation has me puzzled. ???

Also, for the list... the CacheGods have blessed the following for the SCC 2009:

- GC1PYKH STYX:  Hand Crafted Cache Entry
- GC1PYMT OBC:  Large Cache Entry
- GC1PYNW Das Boot:  Wet Cache Entry

So please add 3 more to the list. ;D

Just so you know, Jenn and I went out this afternoon to hide our last cache for the SCC. It's called "The Cache That Goes 'Hoot' In The Night." It's a night cache, and should be a lot easier than Trees In The Dark. Cache Minded had it approved in just a few hours. Funny, we hid a Traditional cache on Monday and haven't heard anything on it.

I'm pretty sure that's our last hide for the SCC. I can't believe there're soooo many caches this year! It's great!

So with a couple more from shroomAzoom,  a few from deannvicki and a few for Mechman we'll be over 50 caches.

LOL  We will have to go to a 48-hour event   LOL

Should be an interesting event - and we will still probably run into each other

We have 4 waiting for approval right now too...so I think we'll be well over the 50 mark....craziness!!  Lots of people looking though too - I think it's going to be a fun event.  I just hope our caches get approved, with so many out there we're really hoping that we didn't overlap on areas.
