I submitted two caches today for review, and have at least two others on the go.....  Will let you know if and when they are approved.

I have had an earthcache approved :Cascades GC1PRZ6.  The earth cache master has submitted it early (today).  And Hunter & Killer nabbed it before I noticed.  I did request a hold until the end of April and the spring event banner was on the cache site.  I have no editting control (I'm I supposed to for an Earth cache?)

I would appreciate cachers holding off on this one if they want it to be eligable for the SCC2009.

Does H&K get the FTF?

I guess a learned something about earth caches.  The earth cache master posts the cache as his own.  You receive an email that requests you take it over.  Once taken over you then have control to edit.
Still, what to do about H&K?  I think they should get the FTF but do they get the point?  The SCC2009 banner was on the posting!!

I have had a puzzle cache accepted.  It is "Welcome to Trowbridge",  GC1PKX6.  I am waiting for 2 others to be approved.

LOL. Don't worry about the point Chris, give it to the next finder. That's just us, If we are home, we see a cache posted, it gets printed, We slide down the pole into our caching boots, and out the door we go, and what a beautiful morning to do this one as well. As far as the spring cache logo we did not see it. It got printed on the third page and due to the html link not being centered it got stuck in the top left on top of some text of the printout. Not really visible to two cache crazy people filled with caffeine and red bull early in the morning. The reviewer released it, and it was posted. As I mentioned to you earlier, that happened to Ragbag with his complex cache during the spring challenge last year. Feel free to delete the find if you wish, We will understand, it's o.k. And thanks for the nice hike.

I had my Earthcache transfered over to me last night too. but. But Geoaware asked me to add some more educational content to it before it got published to the cache was put onto the GC.com site, disabled and then I adopted it. (What a process.) Fortunately, because it was disabled, I'll be able to ensure that CacheDrone gets a note not to publish it until the 29th. :)

Still, more caches coming out, this is fun, I'm looking forward to it! Wee!

PS: I'm already detecting some clusters from the names of caches. Hee hee!

We have had 2 more approved for the SCC:

Hydro One    GC1PQW5      Handcrafted
Hydro Two    GC1PQWN     5L + container

We also had one that was not approved because too close to another one....that's the 2nd one we'll have to find another location for.     the Pepsis

I had sent ChrisDom a message (regarding the Cascades EarthCache) at 11:03 am this morning (before hunter-killer found it) when I saw that it was published and that it was for the SCC2009.  Now that I checked my e-mail, it ended up being sent to geoaware, not ChriDom because the ownership hadn't been taken over by ChrisDom yet.

Oh Well!  I tried!

Paper is a biodegradable, renewable, sustainable product made from trees. Growing and harvesting trees provides jobs for millions of men and women, and working forests are good for the environment, providing clean air, clean water, wildlife habitat & carbon credits. Please remember to recycle after.

Just a follow up regarding Chris's earth cache. Just want to assure everyone else in the Spring challenge that after phoning Chris regarding this cache, I had to beg him to delete the find. He at first said he would leave it, but Kathy and I said that no, it was not right to keep it up as a find. It was released by mistake, we did not notice that it was for the Spring challenge, went out and did it (and lucky you guys will not have to trudge up in knee deep snow...hopefully) and we are glad that he finally deleted the post. Chris is quite a decent guy, and an error on our part should not spoil this one. Just to let everyone in the challenge know, Kathy and I will not post this as a find until the end of the challenge, and that the ftf is up for grabs for anyone pursuing this cache, if an ftf is valid for an earth cache. We will however be parked somewhere at an unknown cache waiting for 6 O'clock. When 6 O'clock hits we will have at least 1 FTF unless of course there are some unscrupulous cachers out there cheating ;) and no one in this group fits this description :o Main thing is to have fun.

OK, we think that we've thought ourselves into madness.  We have a question and proposition for our fellow NWOG community about a cache type... still being rookies at this, we would like your advice and feedback on a cache idea that we have come up with to start life at the SCC 2009.  Although by the #@%&% rules, this cache technically wouldn't exist in SCC 2009 world, we still think its would be a neat idea... and forgiveness is always easier to get than permission when it comes to breaking rules (now why did I just hear H & K cheer loudly).

Here's the concept.  We want to plant a cache named FLUX.  This would be a small magnetic cache that naturally starts life at a given location when released at geacaching.com.  However, instead of just finding a cache and signing the log, it would be the responsibility of the Finder to relocate the cache and put the new coordinates in their log for the next cacher to find.  This way, we have a live, moving cache traveling around the city and area (semi-bug like) and everyone gets chance to be a FTF, i.e. in Flux - although this is a cute play on the magnetic nature of this cache also.   We would also like to stipulate a relocation time period, i.e. 3 days so that the cache is always in motion.

Obviously, this would fall into the SCC 2009 rule category of "you have way too much time on your hands and we think you've lost it traditional cache".  ;D  Points, smoints... we just think it would be a neat idea and haven't seen one like this yet in our local area.

So, what do you all think?  If you like, we'll put one out.  If you don't like or know of problems with this type of cache, then we'll scrap the idea and get back in the box.

Please let us know - Q & A   ::)
I cache, therefore, I am.

Well the idea is different for sure...the only thing is that i'am sure that geocaching.com isn't going to let you place a moving cache, theres some place in the rules if you check that won't allow this.  Don't take my word for it, but do check into the rules of geocaching.com and see what it has to say.

That would be a neat Idea but the "RULES" state the cache must have permanence meaning it must be placed for a specific period of time at a given location. Chris and us played a little game similar to this. We picked him up a few ammo cans in the States, and instead of dropping them off we hid them and emailed him the co-ords. He then hid the money, and we had to go find it. It was fun. This would sure be fun as well, and nice to see you are constantly thinking about different ways to do things. Another way to find out is run it by CacheMinder. Send him a message via geocaching.com site and see what he says. Now if it was o.k  would we have to abide with that 20k.m circle of death ;) Yep Rules. Way to go keep coming up with ideas, and this one we really like. 19 days to go before the challenge, come on mother nature melt the white @%!T
