WWFM V - Revenge of the Caboose
« on: January 24, 2009, 10:44:11 AM »
The next World Wide Flash Mod Event (WWFM 5) is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2009.  ( see information for GC1GYQK - WWFM IV: Snow or Shine in Marathon)

I am planning to host this event again this spring.

Because of the timing with the SCC 2009, there is basically two options for this event:

1) If the SCC 2009 is held on the weekend of April 24-25, 2009,  I will host the event in Marathon.  This is the preferred dates for the SCC 2009 for both my wife and I.

2) If the SCC 2009 gets voted for the weekend of May 2, 2009,  I could host the event in Thunder Bay with some help.  But, my wife (pnutbeagle) will not be able to attend either event that weekend.

I prefer the first option

What do people think?

Jim

Paper is a biodegradable, renewable, sustainable product made from trees. Growing and harvesting trees provides jobs for millions of men and women, and working forests are good for the environment, providing clean air, clean water, wildlife habitat & carbon credits. Please remember to recycle after.

Looks like the SCC2009 event will be held on May 1/2 weekend.

For a 15 minute diversion form the SCC2009 event, I will organize a WWFM V Event for Thunder Bay.

The WWFM V Event would take place from 13:00 to 13:15 hours on Saturday, May 2, 2009.

I think a good central location would be by that Caboose Cache (CN 78175) that has given various geocachers so much trouble to find.

So I will submit a write-up for a  WWFM V Event in Thunder Bay in Marina Park by the Caboose CN 78175.  I will have to think about some oddball theme and name for the event - maybe something railway related for H-K.

At least I know the coordinates for that location.

Comments?

I think you've picked an excellent location for the WWFM! You're sure to get a lot of folks turning up for it at the caboose too! I only wonder how we we all maintain a semblance of stealth after the event? I can imagine a number of people continuing to skulk around that caboose! ;)

I don't think I would spend more fruitless hours on the caboose cache during the SCC!!  Enough fruitless hours last year, haha.  Still want to find it sometime though.

I got notice today that the WWFM V - Revenge of the Caboose has been published

I may be in contact for some help on the event, e.g. someone to keep track of the time during the event, etc.

Thanks
Jim

Update for the WWFM V Event - Revenge of the Caboose

The FTF Draw Prize for the event will be an unactivated "World Wide Flash Mob V" Gecoin.

Watch the sign for the event (to be revealed at the event picture taking) for a clue for the location of GC1A2HT  - CN 78175 cache.

Ok a bit more confusion, which is normal for me. I see that this event is listed on the official geocaching dot com site under it's own title. Then again listed in the Spring Cache challenge listing as an event within an event, and listed with all the caches that have been approved so far. Guess what I am wondering is, if Jim's event is part of the point system for finds, and must be attended for 1 point, or is it just listed under the spring cache challenge but has no bearing or value to the actual Spring cache challenge point system.

Sincerely the stupid half of H.K

Better answer in two places so that everyone sees it. Yes, if you attend this 15 minute event, it counts as a find for the Spring Cache Challenge. So, plan your day accordingly and I'll see you at the Caboose one month from today!
