Always great to have another cacher in the area and to watch as the sport grows.

Enjoy the summer, Wandering Man and may your hunt for caches always be successful.

My real name is Don Murphy and I am retired and live in Timmins. I am married to Trish for 30+ years and we have two daughters. One who lives in Toronto and the other who lives in Thunder Bay. (RubberDucks)

I started caching in the spring of 2003 when my wife read an article in Discover magazine. We bought a GPS and were hooked from the first find. I often wonder what I did before I started Geocaching. We like the walking and exploring and how it takes you places you would otherwise not see. It is not so much about the number of finds as it is about seeing new places and meeting new people. I love making containers of various sorts and will place a few as I get to know the area here a bit better. When here we spend most of our time with our two Granddaughters. Hopefully they soon will be geocachers as well.  ;D

When not caching I do a bit of volunteering, stained glass, photography and especially love to travel.

My favourite hides are the ones that take a bit of work, I just did Get Wet! That was one of the best I can remember. My pet peeve is a water soaked log sheet in a film can.

You folks are lucky to have so many good cachers, good hides and a busy organization. Thunder Bay is a great spot and I have and will enjoy exploring more of it. Perhaps one day our visits will match up with one of your events and I can match up some names and faces.  Cache on!   :)

Welcome aboard and it's nice to see active cachers from other towns on this site.

Welcome aboard Murfster:

For everyone's information, Murfster's daughter and son-in-law (and granddaughters) geocache under the name "Rubber Duck".  They (daughter and grandchildren) were at the "WWFM V - Revenge of the Caboose" event on May 2, 2009.  They leave in Thunder Bay.

I have known Murfster for probably 3-4 years and have found many of his caches in the Timmins area.  He has some great handi-crafted cache containers.  I think he spends his retirement planned for more and more devious cache containers.

HI. My  name is Ian MacLeod and I live in Dryden where I am retired from the papermill. I was born in Fort William and spent the first eight years of my life growing up in a new housing development on Bessie Ave. in Westfort and still get to the city occasionally to visit relatives. I went to school at Kingsway and St Elizabeth's. My wife, Sheila, and I bought a new boat last year and got a Garmin 60cx GPS to make it easier to avoid the rocks and such. While learning to use the GPS I came across the Geocaching web site and found it interesting so this spring I went out looking for caches before the ice went out on the lake to help get familiar with the thing. After my first find I was hooked. My wife thinks I'm nuts but I have now got her coming out with me as well as the grand kids so we have a lot of fun. There is also several caches on the islands out in the lake so that is also giving us more excuse to be out there. Unfortunately, my GPS died last week so it is away for repair right now but hope to have it back soon!!!Looking forward to cacheing in TBay in the future.

Hey Ian, welcome to the site. There are a few of us who either live in Dryden (Mitserbug) or spend a lot of time out there (The Poohmas, and my wife and I have a camp on Eagle and spend some time there in the summer.) Dryden is a great place for caching, as you've found out. A couple of my favourites ever are in Dryden (Are We There Yet? and Just Out Of Reach.)

Anyway, glad that you've found us and I hope you'll visit often. These guys are always going off about something on the forums and maybe we'll be able to entice you into making a trip to Marathon to find some of the millions of caches there, or joining us in Thunder Bay in the fall for one of our events. (Ok, there aren't a million caches in Marathon, but there are a lot.  ;))

Streetstock96 has been nice enough to take the time to maintain several caches in the Dryden area, that were either neglected or the owner of the cache had moved away. Appreciate that Ian.

Hey StreetStock....I lived in Dryden for 5 years right out of university - worked in engineering, for Elmer then Louttit.  Was mostly in Kraft projects in mid-late '90s.  Only been back a few times, did a bunch of caches last summer while up for a buddies wedding.

Hi Mechman, I'm familiar with both those guys of course but I know Mike Louttit more because he lives four houses away from me. He's no longer with the mill but is working for the city now. As for Elmer, I'm not sure if he's still at the mill or not but he is still listed in the phone book at any rate. I was in technical services department but have been retired for 6 years now. I always said the place couldn't run without me and look at it now!!

Hey StreetStock....did you work for Mark Vares back in the day then?  I can't remember who took over for him....I think he was still there when I left.  Say Hi to Mike for me if you see him.  Tell him Dave Gallant says hi...I did hear that he was the town engineer now.  Taking up where Fenton left off or something?

Mechman, Yeah I did work for Vares and Valiquette and Yes, Mike took over at the city for Mike Fenton. Fenton left for Calgary but was back in town about six months later. As far as I know, he is sitting at home here still doing nothing.

I just stumbled upon this and am sorry we did not introduce earlier.  Thanks Shroom for the invite.
We are Millseekers AKA Rob and Krista Miller.  We have 5 kids between us that are 7,13,14,15 and 16....yes we are in teenage HELL! lol  All the kids love to cache but the littlest is ADDICTED and very good at it.  As some might have guessed (by the flashes we leave at caches) Rob is an officer with the TB Police and I teach scrapbook design.  Our first geocache was completely by mistake.  We were walking through the old forestry station in Deep River (middle of nowhere) where Rob grew up and Kourt (the little one) came across a container.  I knew what it was since a girlfriend of mine in southern ontario had recently taken up the sport.  From this point on we checked out the website and the rest is history.  (although my hubby is got a serious addiction and I think he would cache every waking moment if he could....oh when not playing World of Warcraft that is....lol)

Thanks Again for the Invite Shroom

Rob and Kris
