McKay XC Series
« on: September 07, 2010, 09:00:07 AM »
Since I can't do much else besides hike these days, I've finally gotten around to placing my McKay series of caches. There are now 4 caches near the top of the old McKay ski hill. The caches themselves should be easy to find, since the hike is the real reason for their placement.

The caches are:
XC Room with a View
XC Vista
XC Fork in the Road
DH Benny's Drop

XC (cross country) and DH (downhill) refer to the top of bike trail they are placed on.

While up there make sure to keep a look out for mountain bikers as well as bears. Both are regularly sighted on the mountain and both spook quite easily if you have a bear bell. :D

Also if you are in the area and haven't found it yet, make sure to check out Hunter-Killer's Beauty and the Beast cache.

Funny thing was we did a maintenance run yesterday on all the Chippewa caches and our Beauty and the beast cache  so we were just here yesterday  LOL. An excellent series WM, enjoyed the hike, too bad it was pouring out. It is good to have new, open arteries, never even got my heart rate up. Guess going to the gym and losing 30 pounds is paying off. That would have killed me last year. Had a peek at Bennys Drop on the way down and all is good with that one. This is a must do series for those that are able. Nice job and nice locations.
If you don't like the way I drive....Stay off the sidewalk.

Animals taste good.

Learn how to use a compass. Gps is fine until it does not work, and it sucks to have to eat your friends to live.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the caches Tom. I enjoyed reading your logs.

It's funny, I actaully only placed the caches yesterday and they were approved within 3 hours of posting them. Yesterday was the first time I've really hiked the area, and even though I had biked there many times this year, I hadn't truly taken the time to enjoy the area. There is definitely plenty of opportunites for more quality caches in the area, so don't be surprised if a few more caches pop up.

I'll make sure to release them in bunches so they are always worth going out for.  8)
