Garbage in the Greenspaces
« on: July 14, 2008, 10:40:45 PM »
I have lived in Thunder Bay for 11 years but have only started visiting the greenspaces in the city (through geocaching).  I am quite a bit disgusted at the amount of garbage I am seeing.  Is this what we want other cachers to think of Thunder Bay?  I used to be a member of the Spruce River Forest Local Citizens Comittee and we would do a clean up on the Spruce River Road twice a year (spring and fall).  I would like to propose the same for the cache sites in Thunder Bay.  Any interested people please keep tuned into this site.  I would like to set a day up in the fall (leaf off).  Any suggested sites for clean up are welcome.
Lets make a difference.

Great idea Chris. Sounds like Thunder Bay's first CITO event!

Was there a specific greenspace that you were thinking we should target?

I would really like to here from the members and see what areas are important to them as I would not know where to start.  I grew up outside of Thunder Bay and had organized other greenspace clean-ups (before GPs/geocaches) for areas that had meaning for me.  I just think it is important to get as many involved we can.

Well I have to say that the bluffs could use a good cleaning if we could round up lots-o-poeple and a BFI bin, cause it wouldn't be hard to fill.  And this area plays host to several caches that seem to get some traffic through thim.

Happy Caching
