I believe you had us down for 5 of these tags, right?  We really only need 2 so others are welcome to the extras.  If not we'll take all 5 like we had said.  Let us know when and where and how many for pick-up.  Thanks.

I'm in for the race.  I have tags, so won't need any more.

Sorry for the lack of info on the race as of late. We are currently working on the updated details and hope to have something out in the next day or two.

We are still aiming for a June 1st start, but if we can't get all the details hammered out in the next day or so that may change.

Stay tuned...

Just looking over the rules, and I wonder about the rule that the coin cannot be 'dipped' in a cache.  ( I guess I have an ulterior motive here, seeing as that's how I got so many miles last time)  Once the coin has been launched, we really don't have any say over how it is moved, so I think that this rule is one which cannot be reasonably policed.   The only other alternative, as I see it, is to not count the milage between 'dips'.  Any comments?

I think of the race something along the lines of "Paddle to the Sea" you release the coin and see what happens. You might get a "dipper" you might get an international traveler, you might get a few little moves. You never know and you can't control it. It's a crap-shoot, but it's for fun.

One thing that can't be allowed is interference by other coin racers though.

IMO.

I agree 100%.  The rule that I was questioning is the one that says that the coin is to be deposited by a cacher and picked up and moved by another cacher.  That would make the "dipper" illegal, and could eliminate an entry from the race if that rule was upheld.....

That rule is really just outlining the process for which a coin must travel. Basically the attempt is insure that a coin is moved from cache to cache by someone. We don't want to see a coin moving by other means, such as mail.

Anyone looking for a tag to enter into the race, I have several monkey tags available at a low price ($2.50/tag).  Contact me and let me know if your interested.
They have their own nifty icon:

If you have a spare one kicking around I might take one just to get that cool icon! Monkey's rule!

But I will give those needing something for the race first crack at them...

Here is a sheet of 2010-2011 NWOG Coin Race tags. Just like last year's, but with the new year. Feel free to use them with your travelers, or ignore them. ;) Whatever you like.

Anyone interested in a laminated tag (for a TB), email me by Friday with your cachename for the front of the tag and any message for the back  (use the font/format you want to see and I will just copy and paste).  I will print/ laminate them for Sunday/ Monday pick up.

This service is brought to you by your friendly neighborhood cacher.

I have 4 Monkey tags to sell for the race ($2.50/ tag).  I really want to see them go to participants of the 2010/11 race (therefore, if I get 4 individual requests, I will sell one tag to each participant).

Right now, I have request from Wandering Man for 1 and meandmycannon for 2.   If I don't hear from anyone by Friday then those sales will stand.
