only one person has signed up for this event so far. I realize it's early still but months of preparation go into this event. It would be nice to know if there will be anyone attending before all this work is done.

Sorry, can't make it this year. Will be in the east coast visiting family and doing astronomy.

I have to wait until it gets closer; work will be the deciding factor. I should know by mid June.

I need at least a month to get all the 100 caches hidden for all the games. If no one signs up for the event by June 1st I will have no choice but to cancel the event.
Jim has informed me that he is not able to attend anymore so at this point absolutely no one has signed up for the event and like I said before, it' s lot of work to get things ready for an event this size so if no one intends to come then I will save myself a whole lot of work.
June 1st is the deadline!!

OK people it is time to support this great event.
Just ask anyone who attended last year.
Tammy has put a lot of time and effort into this event and it needs to be supported.
Tammy did get input from anyone through this website this winter when she was planning for the event and the majority suggested that the weekend of July 10 would be the best time for it.
My family and I had fully intended to attend this event, but very recently I have accepted a job at Northern Pulp in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia so will not be able to get back for the event. Hey, I have to bring home the groceries somehow. I start work at Northern Pulp on June 1st. Brenda (pnutbeagle) will be going out there with me.
Remember there are a lot of great caches in the Neys and Marathon area. Just ask us or H-K about "The Crack"
Lets support Tammy on this.

Well I guess we are going to cancel the Neys Geocaching frenzy. I'm very sad that this event did not catch on better..... I thought from the comments last year that everyone enjoyed it but apprently not enough!! I mean you all picked the date not me and still there is have no interest in attending.
I spend a lot of money on this event making sure that EVERYONE gets a prize then the winners get extra prizes and EVERYONE gets a loot bag. not to menting the breakfast that I foot the bill for. Then there is my time it takes to get 100+ caches hidden. I'm jsut very disappointed but I'm not going through all this work and expense for 2 people.
Maybe we will try something different in the future on a much smaller scale.

Sorry to hear that you are cancelling, Tammy. I appreciate all the hard work you put into organizing the event, and hiding all those nasty caches! I was looking forward to spending some quality time in the Neys area, and seeing some of the places that I had only just driven by. Also, with Jim and Brenda out of the picture temporarily, I was hoping for a better placing this year.....
I don't know why it didn't fly this year, but i am looking forward to another event of some kind in the near future.
Thanks again for your hard work.

I'm sorry to hear that the event will be cancelled. It will be archived shortly.
Tammy gave it a good effort and hosted a quality event last year. It is not very often where you can go to an event and come back awarded for your efforts. Even wit the rain periodically at last year's event, the attendance was good and everyone had a good time.
Tammy went out of her way to get everyone's input for a date for the event, but only a couple of people responded to her call to attend. One geocacher from last year (ragbag) and a new geocacher to the event (spikybeagle). Brenda and I would definitely would have attended if we were still in the Marathon area, but with moving to the East Coast for employment, we will not be able to attend this year. To quote a former Marathon mill manager who moved to the same pulp mill I am going to (Northern Pulp), we must keep working to bring home the groceries.
Just remember that the Marathon geocachers have always supported the events in Thunder Bay.

RAGBAG, Jim thinks that we should log our attendance on the event before he archives it. He thinks we should at least get credit for our intentions and efforts.
Thanks again for being so supportive!!
