10 Years of Geocaching - Marathon (Event)
« on: February 22, 2010, 10:50:29 PM »
I have submitted the following event to celebrate the 10 years of Geocaching

10 Years of Geocaching - Marathon    (GC248W0)

Event will start at 12:30 PM and end by 4:30 PM.  Among the activities planned is a hike to the location of the first cache in Marathon (Hawk's Ridge - GC88E3).  We can also pick up all the caches enroute to this location and the Earthcache at that location.

Other activities are planned for Marathon's Penn Lake Park where the first Wherigo in the Marathon area is located.

See you there.

Paper is a biodegradable, renewable, sustainable product made from trees. Growing and harvesting trees provides jobs for millions of men and women, and working forests are good for the environment, providing clean air, clean water, wildlife habitat & carbon credits. Groundspeak and geocaching.com are working on a special icon for the 10 Years! of geocaching event.

http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=244213
http://www.geocaching.com/lostandfound/default.aspx

To be eligible, I will need to have 10 people attend the event and post a picture after.

Also there is a 10 Years! geocoin available for the event, specific to Ontario.  I have managed to acquire a very limited supply at these coins (<5).  There will be a couple available for purchase ($10) at the event (will depend on how many more I can get).

I am also looking at setting up a couple of new caches for the event.

See you there.

Okay, that's making the event much more enticing. :) C'mon let's do one in TBay too!

Specific 10 Years! coins to Ontario are not available to order anymore, but I managed to get a few from friends in Southern Ontario (The last coins they had available).  I missed the deadline to order them.  Groundspeak/geocaching.com may have some generic ones coming out., but I haven't seen any yet.

But anyway the new icon will be there.

We are still going to try and attend Jim but I just found out my parents are going to be away this weekend returning on Sunday so it depends what time they get back if we can make our escape from the business or not.

I see that - Maybe they haven't fixed that bug up yet or are they aware of it - they probably heard about it right away from other.
