SC Challenges
« on: January 19, 2010, 03:44:07 PM »
I really enjoy the cache challenges, especially trying to find more caches in 24 hours than I have before. That said, "finding the most caches" is a pretty narrow focus for the weekend. I'm hoping to add some more "Challenges" to this years SCC for those who like a little more variety and a different type of challenge.

One idea was SCC Bingo! We could make a grid to overlay the SCC area and if you find a cache in a square, then you count it towards your Bingo card. Or we could make a grid and fill the squares with challenges like "Find a Puzzle Cache," "Move a Travel Bug," "Remove a Tim Hortons cup from the cache area (CITO)" etc.

Ok, that's the only idea I can come up with off the top of my head! :) But do you have any others?

I was thinking a team challenge would be an interesting idea as well. Something where cacher's can team up with others to attempt to find the most. We could allow people to choose their own teams or even do it with a lottery system so its completely random.

Check with Tammy at Neys Lunch.  She had some really interesting games last year at their event.  Perhaps we could incorporate some of her ideas?

We can discuss these ideas at the MGG Coffee Klatch 2 Event This Saturday which is being held at Neys Lunch
Paper is a biodegradable, renewable, sustainable product made from trees. Growing and harvesting trees provides jobs for millions of men and women, and working forests are good for the environment, providing clean air, clean water, wildlife habitat & carbon credits. Please remember to recycle after.

Please do talk about ideas for the SCC at the klatch, and then post them here. These forums exist so that everyone at anytime can be part of the discussion, so let's keep it going here! :)

Any further news for the 2010 Spring Cache Challenge?

We're still newbies to Geocaching but we've been doing some serious thinking, scouting, plotting and manufacturing to be able to participate with some unique and quality hides in the upcoming challenge.  We've reviewed the forums for previous challenges and have based our thinking around the set of rules established for the 2009 SC Challenge, especially where it comes to the cache categories.  It would be nice to learn soon of any boundaries, restrictions or rules otherwise that may influence our planning as to cache locations, types, etc.  We've penciled in the challenge as May 14 and 15 on our calendar.  We look forward to any further news that can be provided.  Thanks!

Thanks for the reminder Hunters-5. I've been thinking about the SCC too, but other than that, it seems that discussion and ideas about it are a little low this year. Let me try to draft up some boundaries and rules by the end of this coming weekend. As far as the date goes, I think everyone really enjoyed having the Flash Mob coincide with the SCC last year, so keeping the weekend of the 14th and 15th open will make that happen.

I will be submitting the WWFM VII Dolka Dots at the Pagoda Event on February 15.  I was asked by the cache reviewer when I submitted it a couple of weeks ago to wait until the Feb 15th.
