Coffee and Cachers Event III

Suggestions were made at the Pathtag Pub Night that I get this one up a little soon in order to get a February event planned properly.
Now I'm very busy in February so really I only have the one weekend available to host an event. So if everyone is fine with the weekend of Feb 27th then we can open up the forum for suggestions on a series of caches to visit and a place to meet. If we can get this all settled well in advance I will even see about getting an actual event posted through GC.com
So lets hear what people want to do for this get together.

Not that H+K haven't found every cache in town already, but do we want to do the C&CIII event on a Sunday afternoon again to make it easier for the few folks who have Saturday commitments? I've got both day's booked and permission granted.
Chris and I were talking and thought maybe we could try to do the Loch Lomand caches, so that's my suggestion. If we do, I think we should make sure that ICE30 comes along with us.

Loch Lomond Caches sound like an idea

We are busy with a church sleigh ride for the kids on Feb 28th so we wouldn't be able to make it if it was that day

The Loch caches will prove a challenge in winter conditions. None are what I would consider winter friendly. You will be rock climbing for a few of them. They are on the ground. Watch where you park as well. You may get a ticket if you park in the area. I know we did.

Hmm, looks like there's some re-thinking to be done then. Any other ideas out there? What caches have you (and by "you" I mean anyone reading this who'd like to participate) still got to find that you think others would like to try caching with you on?

Hey JB, you've got volleyball on Saturday afternoon too, right? So you're not available at all for that weekend? If I'm missing something, let me know. I think we should stick with the Sunday afternoon then and post the event ASAP so we don't miss out on the event cache status.
H+K is right, those Loch caches look pretty unattainable for late Feb, so let's pick another area. Chris, what would be a good area for you? I know WM can cache most places around TBay and find a few. I have to still get the three at Escape Road, or there's a few out by Whitefish Lake that I'm needing to find. Whatever though.

No volleyball is Sunday - Saturdays are more often free for us. I don't know for sure that we can come, and it will depend on whether the caches we are doing are kid-friendly anyways so I wouldn't necessarily change the day just for us.

As Shroom pointed out I still have a ton of caches to find in and around T-bay, so please someone else suggest something they want to find as I will most likely have things to find either way. Chris, if there is something you need it would be great to concentrate on those caches since you were such a great host for the last series..

shroomAzoom and I aready have solved the Dreaded Pirate Roberts series; but if there were others interested; it could make for an interesting event. We could meet before hand and discuss solutions before the hunt.

That would be an interesting series to do. I can just see it now - meet first to solve and then go for the caches.
If anyone wants to borrow the dice blocks I made up out of square wooden dowel for DPR #5 - they are available (at a cost - LOL). I think it took me 4 months to solve that cache - please see my log notes for that cache. Note to H-K - this is what I did when I was off work after my heart attack.
By the way, I have done this series, but I believe that I can still find my notes from solving them if any help is required.

I'm not sure about the DPR series. If I remember correctly, at least 3 of them are not winter friendly (DPR2, 3, and parts of 5), and I checked on DPR4 over the Christmas holidays, and it appears to have gone AWOL. I sent Ken a message, but I am not sure what he has done about it. I have the solution for the code, if anyone wants it, and I can help with the puzzles as well.

5 is not in any better shape either, a particular stump is leveled and this summers windstorm makes the area almost impassable. Lots of big trees down. I believe Chris mentioned that one part is also missing.

Apparently I'm stuck on going out Highway 588 now.
Whitefish Lake Island
: 30 minute walk (max) there and back
Vanishing Falls
: 750m off the road
Above the Atic and Below
: 2km in and out (mostly across lakes,) 400m "portage"
Scott Lake #1
: 800m across a Scott Lake
Between His and Hers at Prelite Lake
: Only non-winter friendly cache, but maybe we can get a hint before we head out
I'd say, let's start as early as we can, these five caches will probably take five or six hours to do. Maybe we could meet at the
Silver Mountain Station
at 1:00pm and go from there? (Bring your own coffee?) Fortunately by late February, the
sun won't be setting
until 6:40 (or is it 7:40 because of DST?)

Sounds interesting, especially since Scott #1 hasn't been found yet
