FCC Talk
« on: October 02, 2009, 08:42:20 AM »
I seem to recall a year and a half ago, a Friday morning very similar to this... cold, rainy and just a few hours from a cache challenge. I also remember searching with my hands through puddles of water at 0°C with my bare hands at the Community Auditorium and a cheap rain suit that totally ripped to shreds before I found Skunk Dump. All very good memories though.  ;D I wonder what's in store for tomorrow?

Everyone got their routes planned? Brushing up on your German? Oiling your chain? Listening to Zeppelin? Ready for Ling Lee's at the Curling Club?

See you all tomorrow around 11:30ish (and probably a few minutes earlier at the Tim Horton's drive through!) :)

I say bring it on. I fear not the rain and the cold.

Both Calvinball and Thunderbird are disappointed because of the rain (they won't be caching unless it stops up).
I've played in worse, plus it will better the odds at winning.   Glad I'm step up for paperless caching.

Incidentally I think Calvinball is one of the best names ever... But that could be because I was a huge Calvin and Hobbes fan growing up.

Alas, no buffet for us. It will be setup, but it's for a party of 60 that's coming in at 6pm. They've got a great menu though.

 8) Thanks to all for the wonderful time, challenging (sub-terranium) caches and good camaraderie in the activity that we all love.  An interesting way to stay warm on a wet, windy fall day.
Hope you ate some extra chinese food for us!!!
I cache, therefore, I am.

Sorry, I missed the event - it looks like everything went well.

But I will be back for the long weekend, after I go to Peace River on Thursday for a mill interview.  I will try to get my have-not-found Thunder Bay caches down.  I am up to 60 not found yet in the Thunder Bay area.  Just think it was only a couple of years ago I had found all the caches to be found in hte Thunder Bay area.  What happened to those days - oh yea more people caching and spending the last 7 months in Winnipeg.

For myself, I went to Morden, MB today - get 42 finds, 6 DNF's - 4 didn't try (2 too many people, 1 place was closed, 1 - 9 stage multi - didn't bother.   I had 29 finds before I got my first DNF.  I am up to 2742 finds now.

Not a bad day.

Only rained for about 1/2 hour as I got to Morden but after that no rain.

I think a big congrats should go out to Northern Seals who walked to cache all day! They managed to rack up 7 find over a large area.

I see that Hunter-Killer found our Stuck cache, so I think it is still there... sorry for the bad coordinates on both of our caches... I'm guessing Playin' might be there too... just too far off, we'll see I haven't had time to check on it.  We'll update the coords on both when we get our new GPS, hope it will be better.  Sorry for the frustration for everyone!

It's not a frustration. We all know you are working with an older gps, we spent 30 minutes at "playing in the sand", but did not bother posting a dnf. Speaking to you at the event we realized that you had some trouble with the borrowed gps, and your stuck cache was really not off that far so we thought well maybe this was similar,  But unless this was a buried  cache which of course is not allowed going by the rules gc.com lays out, then it may be off too far. Still was fun trying for an ftf. I'm am sure you two will see some happy faces on this soon. Thanks for the challenge. Maybe a hint or ten will help.

I'll go and check if Playin' is still there, and if it is I'll post a hint for it :)
