Updating your GPS software
« on: September 29, 2009, 12:47:46 PM »
At Pub night, I was asked how to check your software version for a GPSmap 60Cx.  The answer escaped me at the time; but this is how it is done:  Go to MAIN MENU, go to SETUP, go to SYSTEM, press MENU button, choose Software Version. For the GPSmap 60Cx the most current software is version 4.00.
If you download the GARMIN updater, it will identify your GPS and let you know if the software needs updating.

Very cool. I didn't even think that the software might need updating. I'll have to do this before Saturday.

I know this is a long unused topic, but thought I would mention to people that Garmin has a new update for many of their models, including the Oregon 450.  Cool new features. For my Oregon, I can now see the cache size and the difficulty and terrain ratings with the cache listing.  Only through opencaching site, any embedded pictures in the description can be seen (really a moot point for us caching in this area) but maybe a sign of something coming in the future?

You might also want to check for your GPSr at the wiki's... http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/Versions+x50

You can search for your own garmin model there too.

Still nothing new as of Sept 21 2011 for the Oregon 550

Hey Canadianstock,

From what I read when I updated the Oregon 450, it was an x50 update, so the update for my Oregon should be the same as for the 550.

Here's a link to the blog telling a bit about the update and the models it applies to.
