I had a great time yesterday in Nipigon and the area. Our hosts for the event were wonderful. I visited many places that I normally would never see. Thank you. You did a great job with getting sponsors - I know how hard that can be sometimes. I was especially impressed with the parts of the trail system that I saw. It was well maintained and looks like it would be fun to hike.

I was disappointed that I didn't get to meet DNF. :(. I enjoyed matching faces to names at the Cafe.

Thanks again to B.A.S.K. You did a great job. I'll eventually get to the caches I missed or didn't look for, when my better half, with better eyes, is with me!

Yes, It was a great job and event.

We, jlee & pnutbeagle, were passing through Nipigon again to go to Thunder Bay to pick up our "newest" Model A.  On the way back we did find "Tourist Info",  well Brenda did.

And we got FTF for "Jackfish River" using the new coordinates.  Easy find with the correct coordinates - put us only a few meters out.

We also got a STF for the new cache in Thunder Bay "Neebing River Cache"

I see that H-K has been down in Minnesota this past weekend - so that is why we haven't heard anything from them - I was checking their profile to see what they were up to this past weekend.

Unfortunately we both had to work Saturday, so missed the event. Sounded like fun, and we hate missing these events. Enjoy meeting those who share the same interests. We had a family get together in Fort Frances Sunday evening at my nieces place so the plus side was caching at the other end of our favorite place, Minnesota. We will get to those caches in Nipigon, and picked up a few travelers to put in the new caches around the area. Probably see you somewhere on the highway Jim, as usual. We are taking 71 up to 11/17 hoping to get a few along the way, and Mike's new one in Ignace at the gravel pit.

Hi H-K:

I am now heading down to the Fall Barrie Automotive Flea Market - getting a late start - I am usually down in Southern Ontario by this time - will be at Barrie on Wednesday all set up in my vending spot -   Red Field  1S4.

So if any geocachers are at the flea market. come and see me.  I will be either in my vending spot or out trying to get bargains - will be there Wednesday Sept 8 to Sunday Sept. 13.

Hey, next year I should plan a geocaching event a my site.   LOL

We did the caches -1 (ship shape, blind I guess) this Sunday. You really have to hand it to the B.A.S.K team for bringing us cachers to some real nice spots in Nipigon and surrounding area. Glad they made these caches permanent for those of us who could not attend or were not able to spend the whole day at the event. The good news is, that in a few weeks, this will be a sight to behold with the fall colours, the temps should be cooler, and the bugs not as bad.

The caches are challenging, some more than others but you get to know what to expect container wise. Wish we could have made this event, the camaraderie is always the best part, but we still enjoyed our day, and seen probably the most beautiful part of North Western Ontario and a hurd or flock or gaggle of Alpaca!!!! In Nipigon.

Thanks

H-K you missed the elusive Hidden Falls GC1XK3Z.  This one is worth the visit.  Although tough to find (at least during the event, as gps signals were poor).
Glad to see the rock caches didn't slow you down.

Hidden Falls was reported by you to be out, by quite a bit, so we never did it. We were hoping that corrected coords were going to be posted, but nothing when we left. Would like to see the falls. Hopefully it will be remedied and we will catch it on our next pass by. As far as the rock caches, those were ok, considering we suck at rock caches, it was the toss downs in the grass that killed us, we were looking for geo beacons. Should have used the aluminum hiking sticks the first try, makes a distinct sound when hitting tupperware, provided you are in the right area.

I don't know if the coordinates were off.  Just that the GPS signal (accuracy was out by 36m) was bad, due perhaps to the mountain.  If you do try hidden falls follow the trail and it was closer to the falls than the gps indicated.  That should get you to the root of the cache.

Nah!  I got the same co-ordinates each time I was out there.  The accuracy does tend to jump around A LOT out there.  Chrisdom is right though.  This one is worth the trip even if you do get a DNF. ;D

H&K were right about one thing too.  Ship Shape Jumped ship but since shaped up!   I guess some one took the cache.  :-\ I have since replaced it and added a sign in red on the inside asking people to please replace it if they find it as it is a geocache, blah, blah, blah!  Hopefully this one stays put long enough for H&K to find it :P

Oh!  I should add.  As often as I've gotten the same co-ords at Hidden Falls I have lost my signal and been unable to get it back.  It's such a beautiful location though I am loath to remove the cache. Maybe I'll post a heads up on the listing though.

That's not nice. Damm muggles, at least we know we are not blind. 2 trips and we scarified the area. (sorry mother nature) but finally had to walk away. Glad to see it is back up, this one ticked us off so bad that we have to return. But going to avoid Gus's restaurant, never seen a preformed veal cutlet before and they tell us those were meatballs. Odd looking, and odd tasting. Like a science experiment gone haywire.

NOT ANY MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a shared FTF's today for the geocaching group, pnutbeagle, moushka, statsman595, jleecollins and the Monster Beagles.

And for added fun, I took the group to find the "Jackfish Ghost Town" multi-cache.

5.0 km there and back for "The Last Spike"
2.0 km for the "Jackfish Ghost Town"
0.5-1.0 km for the "Jackfish' Forgotten Graves"  We went past the trail head for a while
