Nipigon Fall Fishing Festival Cache Event.
« on: August 22, 2009, 06:33:00 PM »
Dust off your GPS and your hiking boots for this one.

This September we are hosting the Nipigon Fall Fishing Festival cache event.  This event features 20 caches hidden at various points of interest around the Nipigon area.  This includes a must see view of Lake Superior and Red Rock and a Gorgeous hidden waterfall :o

The event takes place on September 5th 2009.  We will meet at The Nipigon Cafe (49 00.944   088 15.710) at 8:00Am for breakfast and a meet and Greet. Then it's off to find as many of the caches as you can.  Collect one card from each cache and sign the log. (There are small prizes for the first to find).  We meet again at the Cafe at 8:00Pm for dessert and business card Bingo.  The more caches you find, the better your chances of winning a prize.  Contact us for more info: anwahs2002@hotmail.com

Hope  to see you there!! ;)

Is this going to be a geocaching.com event?  I don't see it listed.  Will the 20 caches be listed on geocaching.com?  Will the 20 caches be available after the event?  I will try to make it.

If you don't like the way I drive....Stay off the sidewalk.

Animals taste good.

Learn how to use a compass. Gps is fine until it does not work, and it sucks to have to eat your friends to live.

The caches are listed with geo-caching.com....they are waiting to be reviewed.  They will also probably be archived after the event and after all the fun is in getting together and having a good time isn't it?

I would recommend that You should consider leaving them active for the geocachers in the future - good way to have people see your area (and spend some money in the area).
Paper is a biodegradable, renewable, sustainable product made from trees. Growing and harvesting trees provides jobs for millions of men and women, and working forests are good for the environment, providing clean air, clean water, wildlife habitat & carbon credits. Please remember to recycle after.

Hey B.A.S.K., the event sounds like fun, but be aware that according to GC.com, that temporary caches (like those for an event) that are not intended to be permanent will likely not be published. See the guidelines for hiding caches.

Thanks.  The listing has been published and all except one are going to be permanent caches.  The other nineteen caches are scheduled to be posted on Septemebr 4th, just prior to the event.  But please keep any helpful info coming.  I am fairly new to all this :)

Could you post the names of the new caches so that I can be sure to have them on my GPS for the event?

Hey BASK, when do we have to "attend" to be able to claim a find for the event. I'm wondering how long we'll be able to be in Nipigon on Saturday with the boy. :)

Hey, that's an impressive list! Jenn, Nate (DNF) and I will try to make the drive down tomorrow. I think one of the Pepsis will come with us too. We'll be sure to pop in to thank you at the Nipigon Cafe. Hope to see some of you on the trails. Looking forward to it!

We had a great time in Nipigon.  Sorry we were unable to stick around until eight for the closing.  Look forward to the next event in your area.

Thanks to everyone who popped in for the event.  I am so glad everyone had fun.  Congratulations to Chris, Ruth, Jim and Cassandra for winning our business card bingo.  Maybe we'll do it again next year.  H&K there is still one out there that you can get FTF on.... if you're quick!! ;D
So nice to meet you all!  Happy Hunting!

B.A.S.K. you guys did a great job of organizing today's event! Jenn, DNF, a Pepsi and I really enjoyed searching for the caches you hid. I've been to Nipigon a number of times (the drug store has our last name on it :D) but your caches took me to some neat places.

I especially enjoyed the walk out to the Point (for the FTF! ;)) and look forward to making the hike to Red Rock and nabbing all the other caches on the way.

Good to have met you S. Hope you and B. (and maybe A. and K.) can make it to Thunder Bay for the Fall Cache Challenge. Well done on the event!
