It would appear that Mechman's first coin is off and running!
It has visited 26 caches already and moved over 902km!

Well I took a look at that coin of Mechman's and, well it's nice that one person has placed and retived from the caches leading all the way to T.O.. I guess this is hard to control, there just trying to help out... unless Mechman got's someone working for him

I think that we will have to eliminate the "Number of Caches Visited" category, as we have no control over someone else taking the coin along for a ride, and dropping it in, and retrieving it from, all the caches visited along the way. Glad to hear that at least some of the coins are on their way...

I see nothing wrong with someone taking the time to do that for a race coin. Actually goes to show that person cares about your coin, and is taking the time to log it's journey, instead of just dumping it in any old cache. It's all part of the game, fate and luck. Hopefully we will put our two in play on our days off.

I don't think we have to eliminate the "number of caches visited" category. The whole race is luck, and if Mech managed to hitch a nice ride down to TO with someone who read the tag and was willing to dip his coin into a bunch of caches along the way, I say, great for him.

I agree with Shroom!!!!
and if you put the right words inside your pink paper, others may do the same thing for you too.
Perhaps next race we should say # of different people that move it?? or discover it??
I'll admit it...I got lucky..this time...it's been sitting in TO for a while now...
#2 coin was dropped off today by mechmama near kenora - on a westward journey!! we'll see how it goes!
Has anyone else moved yet?

I can see your point(s). Let the rules stay as they are for this year, and we can discuss any changes after the race is over. As an aside, I dropped off one of my non-racing coins in a cache on the east coast of England today (Robin Hoods bay Cache - GC11MYO), along with Chris' Accessible Coin, and one he gave me that wanted to get back to the UK. We'll see how long it takes them to get back home.

Hey Shroom! Jenny's 1st coin was just sighted outside of the Sault.
Looks like another coin is well on the move!
I should be making the drop on my coin this weekend.

Just wondering if it might be possible to set up a thread here with links to all the coins.
Would be good to have a one stop shop where we can watch all the coins from.

I was talking to Greg (of JungleBus) last week and we're going to try to get a script set up that pulls our coin data from the gc.com site and posts stats to a page here on the website automatically. I've been keeping track in a spreadsheet though and if the cool plan falls through, I'll post monthly updates at the end of the month.

Of the 26 coins in the race - for some reason there are 16 of them still "in the hands of owner"
Must be some secret strategy you guys are planning!!!

I am honored that you started one of your race coins in my cache in Ignace,Hunter-Killer. Too bad about the highway being closed. Race sounds like fun guys. Good luck to all.
