Well it appears that we have an interest in doing another coin race this year. So consider this the official announcement to kick it off! We will be holding start-up event at the dinner for the Spring Cache Challenge. For those who wish to be part of the race, but will not be attending the dinner, fear not. Simply send a PM to either
ChrisDom, or
myself and we will work something out. The start of the race will be June 1, 2010. We do have a small entrance fee for the race. $5 gets you in, with all proceeds going towards prizes (Yay for prizes!!).
SUBMIT TRACKING NUMBERS HERE! We are going to keep it simple and run the same basic rules of the last race:
This race is open only to geocoins (that’s why its called a coin race!). Forget that, coins and tags are both cool.
A maximum of 2 coins per participant will be permitted.
All coins must be activated, and have 0 (zero) distance before the start of the race.
All coins must be trackable on the geocaching.com website.
All participating coins must be present at the start-up event, to record the official tracking number of the coin. The owner of the coin does not have to be present. (See homepage for how to submit coin tracking numbers!)
At the start-up event, an official tag will be issued to each coin, identifying it as a participant in the race, which is to be included with the coin in its travels. official tags are available through download on the website, or can be picked up from ChrisDom, ShroomAzoom, or myself when you deliver the entry fee.
The coins are to be placed in any cache in Ontario.
Distance traveled will be determined from that starting cache. (If you can't make it to the event, email me, I'll get you a tag to attach to your coin. Don't start racing before you get your tag.)
The race will conclude at 11:59pm on April 30, 2011. At that time, the categories will be checked, and winners declared.
Travelling Rules...
Participating cachers are not permitted to move any of the coins, (including their own, once placed in a cache), or interfere with their progress in any way.
Movement of a coin by a relative, friend, or business associate is prohibited.
Coins are to be moved from cache to cache in the usual manner, with one cacher placing a coin in a cache, and another cacher retrieving it and moving it along.
Coins are to be physically moved by hand from one cache to another. Movement by UPS, FedEx, snail mail, etc, is prohibited.
Winning...
The coin with the most miles traveled.
The coin with the most caches visited.
The coin that is furthest from it's starting cache.
One coin could possibly win all three categories, or there might be three winners of the three categories. Any prize (probably a gift certificate) will be divided by the winning categories.
This race is run on the Honor System, and relies on the integrity of the individual cacher to follow the rules.
If you plan to take part in this years race then add your name to this thread and we will make sure we don’t miss you on the list. Good luck!
